We're thinking beyond the traditional plan designs to lower member out-of-pocket costs while providing plans data on member prescription purchases outside of the funded benefit.

THE PROBLEM

Over the past few years, prescription savings programs have surged in popularity. And, although these discount programs were once generally relied on by uninsured populations, today they are used by people regardless of insurance status and across all socioeconomic strata.

Many health plan members use third-party cards to purchase on- and off-formulary medications. When they do, plans lose important data on drug utilization and adherence. In these cases, plans are also unable to identify potentially dangerous interactions and other factors influencing drug safety and effectiveness.

We’ve designed our prescription discount program for this new healthcare economy.

To help plans reduce member costs and retain claims data, MedImpact will be introducing an integrated prescription discount solution. Now, members will be able to save up to 80% off the cash price of all FDA-approved prescriptions, while plans gain access to prescription drug utilization outside the funded benefit. To further improve the member experience, plans will have the option to apply cash card claims toward member deductibles.

Unlike third-party cash cards, with MedImpact’s integrated solution, plans will gain access to prescription drug utilization outside the funded benefit. This will allow cash claims to be used to track certain utilization, health, and adherence information.
